Meep! Meep! The Acme of Namespaces

posted by ziggy on 2001.05.23 22:15   Printer-friendly
Damian writes "As Leon mentioned in his latest diary entry, a number of usefulness-challenged but entertainment-advantaged modules have recently migrated en masse to the new Acme:: top-level namespace. Future surreal module ideas should be directed into those same badlands, where they may freely misuse their rocket-powered skates, giant rubber bands, and anvils, without having to justify either their name or their purpose(lessness)."

  • Nice idea, but D'oh [cpan.org] is staying just where it is.

It does need a rewrite though, to become either more or less useful.
  • Yeah, but D'oh just doesn't have the same effect on your program as, say, Acme::Smirch. And I agree with the author of that mod, we need a switch to run Smirch's output into shapes.

    :)

The target is single-word, one-level module names. D::oh clearly isn't in that category

Besides, as a Useful Module with a Real Purpose, we wouldn't sully Acme:: with it's presence!
