Taking over Win32::API maintainership

Journal written by cosimo (4138) and posted by brian_d_foy on 2006.11.16 2:27   Printer-friendly

I'm in the process of taking over the maintainance of Win32::API module from Aldo Calpini, the original author.

I'm collecting patches, related web pages and information as I'd like to make Win32::API work with the current VanillaPerl/Mingw environment.

I also updated win32.perl.org Wiki to announce this.

So, anyone interested in getting your patches, suggestions, rants, ... please get onboard now and communicate with me. If you already have your bug reports filed on http://rt.cpan.org/, be sure I'm working on those (if I ever get to manage all of these bugs;-D )...

  • So... what does dada [perlmonks.org] say?
    I'm wondering if he even knows about your planes, because I do think it's premature to write him off yet.

    If it were me, I wouldn't like it to come back after a few months and find my most popular module hijacked.
    • He's fine with it. [google.com], or at least he was earlier this year.

      To Cosimo -- THANK YOU!

      Not having Win32::API working for people who wanted/needed it has been one of the bigger annoyances for me about Vanilla Perl.

      • Ah, good...

        I'm sure he must have rewritten his journal entry, I'm convinced originally it didn't mention Dada at all... which is why I got a bit in a state of alarm.
    • of course, I'm fine with it. cosimo didn't hijack anything, he asked me beforehand. and I'm very grateful to him for his effort.

      but thanks for worrying about me anyway :-)

      cheers,
      Aldo
