  Does anyone know how this compares (speedwise) to the various other Open Source search engines available out there?

  Did it take less code? Is it faster or comparable? Things like that.

    I lurk on the Lucene mailing list, I would say a full comparison isn't possible yet (I pulled PLucene from CVS a few weeks back). But yes, possibly a bit less code than the actual Lucene Java implementation.

    Lucene has a few more analysers, among other things. When I looked at it last, PLucene didn't have all the analysers and so on (could have changed, downloading the release now). As for speed, Lucene is scarily fast (500mb in 9 seconds, an unofficial benchmark for my data). I'd imagine IO is more a const

      Followup: it seems complete. I see all the analysers I use in the Plucene distribution.. cool.
