Nethack

[ #4459 ]

I'm sure I must be one of the last people on the planet Earth to play nethack. Downloaded it at lunchtime yesterday. An hour or so later I realized that I really should get back to work :-)

Blimey, hope my boss doesn't read this journal :-)

  • I tried Nethack last year and it's really great, so you're not the only one ;-) However, I can never remeber all of the commands and have been wondering if there were a GUI that one could use with simple buttong having the full names of the commands and the such on them.

There is one called Falcon's Eye, available with any good Linux distro, but frankly, it's jut not the same. It doesn't feel right. I used to play quite a lot, and if you persevere you will learn the commands very quickly. And maybe one day you will ascend a Tourist!

  • You might want to check out ADOM [www.adom.de] while you're at it.

There are innumerable variants of Nethack, so if the one you're playing now doesn't seem full-featured/simple/insane enough, you really can just shop around for a while.
