Music Collection

[ #4001 ]

I was looking at my CD collection this evening and I couldn't help thinking that I've got a really bizarre taste in music that spans many a genre. Currently sitting side-by-side on my CD racks are:

80's electronic[1], 80's hair bands[2], goth[3], industrial[4], new-age[5], British late 80's early 90's indie[6], 'grunge'[7], and many many other wacky combinations of 'pop' type stuff[8]. So, depending on what mood I'm in I think I've got a tune for every occasion. Mind you, I think it's a sign of growing older when you don't 'get' the current music trend and realize that 90% of your music collection comes from 'decades-gone-by' :-)

[1] Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Human League, Soft Cell, Howard Jones, Thomas Dolby, Kraftwerk, Yazoo etc
[2] Poison, Motley Crue, Def Leppard etc
[3] Bauhaus, Fields Of The Nephilim, Sisters Of Mercy, The Mission, Alien Sex Fiend etc
[4] Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Wumpscut etc
[5] Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Aphex Twin etc
[6] Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, Carter USM, The Wedding Present, James etc
[7] Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone
[8] Abba, INXS, Madonna, Madness, Public Enemy, The Pogues, Prince, U2 etc, etc, etc...
