tinman spent a few years mucking around industry before going back to school for a Masters. Currently not enjoying the weather in North England..
He wrote Perl that looked suspiciously like C code in 1998, while working as an intern, and has been trying to cure that bad habit ever since.
Launch party at the local cyber cafe last night.. free food, music and free gaming.. neat. I still suck at TFT though, or maybe its just that I'm intimidated by most of those guys
Web server component done. Now, I need to figure out how to port the middleware library code from Visual C++ to gcc..Giving myself plenty of time for that. In between finding out how to write a decent webserver component, I also found some time to experiment with the venerable (but heretofore untried) netcat.. All I can say is "WOW".. Just looking through that code tells me how much I need to figure out in socket programming.. humbling thought, that.Lots more figuring out to be done..
Also installed the Firebird nightly. Tried to find the Firebird extension called "Nice Titles", which shipped with the BlackDiamond version, but with no luck. Obviously, the author has lost interest or something, which is a pity, because its a neat piece of DHTML. Tried mucking around with "chrome.rdf" to install it manually, made a miserable balls up of the whole thing.. *growl*..
