tinman spent a few years mucking around industry before going back to school for a Masters. Currently not enjoying the weather in North England..

He wrote Perl that looked suspiciously like C code in 1998, while working as an intern, and has been trying to cure that bad habit ever since.

Finally got my copy of the Crossroads of Twilight, Robert Jordan's 10th in the series.. YAY!! Heard that its a yawn, no plot advances, yadda yadda BOO!! Just had time to read the first 50 or so pages last night before I went to sleep, seems ok, thus far..

For some weird reason, Phoenix seems to crash when it tries rendering certain sites.. very strange.. this means I cant completely do without IE just yet (I need it for Hotmail, for example.. wonder if I can install the UA toolbar and "persuade" entry *evil grin*)

Sent off LOTS of emails to prospective supervisors in 3 different universities yesterday.. I really want to sort out a topic before I go through with the rest of the application procedure.. strangely enough, no one has replied yet (am I being too impatient, expecting replies inside 2 days ? quite possible, I belong to the "instant gratification" crowd) I hope using my Yahoo mail address isnt triggering off someones spam filter *yikes* Anyone who lives in the UK or knows of good universities for Comp Sci. in the UK, please let me know.. I'm trying to do a Masters by research thingie for one year

Followed the thread about PAR (davorg).. neato. Some of the people that I write code for at work dont want to know about installing modules either..
