an OSCON story, part 1

[ #26215 ]

'Twas Monday the First and Ian was headed
To the Pacific North-West
A Portland event, called OSCON you see
whose sessions are some of the best

Being Ian's first time to visit said venue
He knew that swell times would ensue
And he jibbered, chortled, spoke and burbled
And sampled many a microbrew

Tuesday included two tu-torials
Which piqued Ian's broad interest
Ajax and Mono, things he wanted to learn
And not 'cause of buzzwordiness

Alex Russell, a JavaScript wizard
Gave examples of some "soup and nuts"
And claimed that toolkits - not homebrew techniques
Were, above all, a must

"AJAX isn't always / the best tool to build..
a UI," Alex Russell once said
"Users hate puzzles! Note Legend of Zelda
When one holds a chicken overhead."

The Dojo Toolkit was exemplified
But on Java vers' JavaScript
A poor attendee, unbeknownst to his folly
Asked if it worked with Eclipse

Folks enjoyed lunch at a sushi place
Where rolls upon rolls did arrive
The means of escape for the unfortunate fish
Was into stomachs through esophogi

After fish, eel and shrimp, Ian learned some C#
Alas! The network was bunk
Ian waited as Mono's tools a-downloaded
Each hunk by each tiny, slow hunk

Of Tuesday evening, Ian drank ale
And he laid low whilst he prepared for
Two talks to be given on that of The Perl
Perl testing, Perl modules, and much more...
