I stumbled across a blurb in the most recent Debian Weekly News about Bruce Perens' UserLinux. The discussion list is already pretty active. It sounds like an interesting project. I think I'll keep an eye on it and see where it leads...
I see from a bit of reading that Python is the scripting language of choice for this. Perens wanted Ruby, but I think he was right not to choose it since it's not widely supported enough outside of Japan. As for Python, I hate to say it, but I can understand this decision. Python is simply cleaner than Perl (though I've never particularly enjoyed the language). Perl would have been awesome, but the more I program in it, the more I see that people who are less experienced at programming are going to pref
