Apparently O'Reilly is bringing out a book on OCaml. I wonder what animal they'll use for the cover...

The book you are referring too is probably the English translation of the original Développement d'applications avec Objective CAML [editions-oreilly.fr], published in French by Éditions O'Reilly [editions-oreilly.fr], in April 2000. After all, CAML was developped in France.
As you can see [editions-oreilly.fr] on the cover [amazon.com], the animal is a horse from the race "Percheron" (in French). I heard that the CAML people were very disappointed that it couldn't be a "Chameau"...

Thanks a lot - very interesting. It's a shame they couldn't have a camel. They deserve it more than us, in a way...
Still if you say "the CAML book" aloud, it'll be ambiguous. No problem in French, I suppose. ("CAML" vs "Chameau")

I went out to The Great Computer Language Shootout [bagley.org] and was impressed not only by the fact that ocaml sometimes outperformed gcc, but also that the programs generally had relatively (and sometimes absolutely) small footprints.
