I'm a Perl coder living in Bethlehem, PA and working Philadelphia. I'm a philosopher and theologan by training, but I was shocked to learn upon my graduation that these skills don't have many associated careers. Now I write code.

rereading animal farm

[ #36489 ]

Last night, looking at my bookshelf, I noticed my copy of Animal Farm and decided to re-read it. By the time I was finishing the first chapter, the entirety of the rest of the book flooded back into my memory, and I felt like weeping for the tragedy I knew was coming, eventually.

Animal Farm and 1984 remain two of my favorite books for rereading.

Do not forget Old Major's teaching:

All the habits of Man are evil. And, above all, no animal must ever tyrannise over his own kind. Weak or strong, clever or simple, we are all brothers. No animal must ever kill any other animal. All animals are equal.

  • like you, i went back to this one and enjoyed it. orwell is amazing, shown most clearly by his continuing relelvance to each new generation of readers that comes along. of course, the satire is about as subtle as gwb- but there's something fitting in that. and, 1984 is also worth a re-read or two. both of these have rewarded me in multiple readings.
