NNTP servers

[ #2018 ]
And then I've just installed slrn+slrnpull on my home PC.

This rocks, except one thing : NNTP servers aren't always perfect. For example, the server I've currently access to seems to loose some posts (e.g. posts from Randal). I can read them on another server, read-only for me. So what's the solution ?

  • Do nothing and decide it's not important
  • Install INN (ughh)
  • Patch slrnpull to allow to retrieve posts from several news servers (boring, but potentially fun)
  • Write my own newsspool / NNTP proxy, in Perl of course, and make slrn use that. (funnier.)
