Unfortunately this ends up putting .cpan in a directory that contains spaces, which tends to break a lot of module tests and compiles, since most tests are written as though unix was the only filesystem

Does Unix not support spaces in filenames?

There might be a problem in tests, but it's not because they assume they're running on "the unix filesystem" (whatever that is).

So I contributed more to bleadperl than you? I'm rather surprised myself. (And I wonder where my nearly 500 lines of code come from -- at first I only saw the "4" attributed to "Newton, Philip", which made sense to me, but then I saw another listing for "Philip Newton" with 491.)
