With the help of this job trends app, you can see that job postings for Perl continue to be much higher than those for PHP, Python, or Ruby (honorary P language). It's nowhere close to Java, but it's about twice PHP and leaves the others in the dust. Of course this says nothing about the actual quality of the jobs -- only that Perl skills are in demand.
When I started working at my current $job, I didn't know what anyone was using so I chose Perl. Then I was starting to be asked by others who were using Perl my opinion. Turns out it is being used quite extensively. Python seems to be creeping in now but no sign at all of Ruby (and I don't know why you would).
Looking at jobstats.co.uk you can see Perl is indeed looking pretty healthy and is follows a similar bellweather pattern to Java, tracking the total jobs growth while gaining some additional share over time as well.
