Health ins. for self-employed geeks
http://use.perl.org/~mary.poppins/journal/19488?from=rss

I'm a self-employed geek living in the US.

Any advice as to how to go about getting health insurance? I'm thinking a
high-deductible "major medical" type plan, with infrequent routine stuff
out-of-pocket. I'm young and healthy, with no family to worry about.

The ACM and IEEE each have group deals with insurance companies. Anyone had
experiences with them, or with some similar deal?
mary.poppins2004-06-25T05:24:53+00:00journalSO COLD

It is really cold here in norcal. Winter has arrived!

It makes my hands all blue and numb. It makes it hard to type.
mary.poppins2003-10-31T11:04:22+00:00journalthreading IM messages
http://use.perl.org/~mary.poppins/journal/8957?from=rss

While I've been a happy gaim user for some time, I miss the threading feature of email. If I am discussing several topics at the same time with someone, it's not clear which topic an individual message addresses.

I can't think of a convenient user interface for threaded IM, however. Perhaps the program would show, for each thread, all messages less than some age? The user would select a thread before responding, perhaps with the most recently responded-to thread selected by default.
mary.poppins2002-11-15T11:56:34+00:00journal
