searching not supporting ::

[ #31028 ]

Every so often I get slightly annoyed that google seems to drop :: when I search for information about a module.

Today I was looking for info about DateTime::Format::DateParse in the datetime mailing list archive and I got

JavaError: org.apache.lucene.queryParser.ParseException: Encountered ":" at line 1, column 9.
Was expecting one of:
        "(" ... ... ... ... ...
        "[" ...
        "{" ... ...

An archive of posts about perl where I can not search for a module name seems kinda wrong.

  • I agree, a search engine for a mailing list archive for Perl developers should be more robust.

    But I tried to search using hypens, thus looking for DateTime-Format-DateParse and it seems to work.

    At least, searching for Date-Parse instead of for Date Parse seems to retrieve more focussed results.
