Scripting

[ #7220 ]

I have had the opportunity at work to work with Perl and solving basic scripting tasks which would normally be done in bash or similar. This has proofed a most satisfying experience, after having been writing mostly DB, web and other such solutions, I feel like I have re-discovered the language :)

Perl is general purpose and there is no doubt about that and not only is it general purpose - it is very good at being general purpose.

I mostly 'travel' in the domains of telecommunication and related techs , like customer, billing, provisioning stuff. But when I look at CPAN I am amazed over the sheer number of modules and the domains they cover.

I am no CPAN contributor myself and I am not the wizkid who brings Perl its next revolution.

I am just one of those who scrathes the surface of Perl, and doing it with a smile- because Perl brings me many happy moments, sences of victory and a confidence in my work, because I know Perl makes the hard things possible and the easy things easy.

So my thanks go out to the fantastic community I consider my self a member of, the people behind Perl and the many contributors of code to CPAN.

Thank You All
