Perl Community Map?

[ #18945 ]

I really like the Perl community, people in this community are always very helpful.

Yesterday as I was looking for some Exception handling modules for Perl, I found Exception by PJORDAN on search.cpan.org.

I started up my CPAN shell and attempted to download it. No such luck - No such module :-/

I could find the module by browsing the mirror, but I could not find it using the CPAN shell, I examined the various meta data on my machine and package lists - and apparent the file was not listed in these.

After trying two different mirrors in Denmark via the CPAN shell and discussing with the responsible for one of them I turned to a Perl channel on IRC with my problem and I was met with:

What do you need?

And within 5 minutes several mirrors around the globe had been tested, giving the same result.

So I sent an error report the CPAN address listed on one of the mirrors and crossed my fingers.

This community is REALLY good when it comes to these things...

A thing that bothers me though is that I do not have a map of the Perl community's resources and who is responsible for what, it is quite easy to send the wrong mail to the wrong address resulting in the wrong answer.

Maybe I should try to create this map as my contribution to the Perl community - after all I owe the Perl community a favor :)
