Here comes that screamin' sound again! Crusification ain't no fiction in the Philippines. One gets that feeling that allusion and metaphor may be lost on folks such as these.

  • Nah, they're way better at this than Jesus was:

    Sterilized 20-centimetre nails are driven through the palm of the hands. Some penitents who perform the ritual every year have developed holes on their palms, making the procedure relatively bloodless.
  • I don't know if it so much allusion and metaphor that is lost on them. Even literalism is lost on them: Christ suffered *so we don't have to.* That's kinda the most important point of the whole crucifixion thang.
