Origin of the "GNU/Linux" moniker

Latest kernel traffic summary contains a message from someone taking credit for convincing RMS to use the term "GNU/Linux." Actually he's apologizing, but he does seem to indicate that before he spoke to RMS, the policy was to tell people not to say "Linux" at all. Sounds like he made progress to me, actually, although small.

Of course, I'm one of those freaks looking forward to running pure GNU one day.
