New Boss

[ #5613 ]

Had my first meeting with my new manager today. It looks like it's going to be a lot easier around here to get the company to buy the books we need. I think Perl & LWP and the 3rd edition camel are going to be at the top of that list.

Also, I'll soon be getting a Sun blade. I wonder if they'll let me dual boot Debian?

Oh, and she seemed very interested in sending me to conferences! I hadn't looked at the dates before because I thought I had no hope of going, and it looks like I'll be busy during TPC, but there's a chance I might get to go to YAPC! A dream come true!

Our admin guy here swears Sun mucked with the boot process specifically to stop Linux from being installed on Sparc stations. He never got it to work, and he tried several flavors of Linux.

Maybe they fixed it by now - but don't be surprised if you hit major (and insurmountable) snags.

At least make sure you get Solaris 9 with it.
