Wheel reinvented ... where can I upgrade?

Where is there a wiki to do what GNU's Free Software Directory (and/or Freshmeat, or whatever) does? I'd like to see a collaboratively edited site that would help answer questions of the form, "What free software could I use to accomplish X?"

(Side note: yes, it gave me pause when I checked my link and discovered the Free Software Directory is now the UNESCO Free Software Directory...
