veebeebies

[ #3442 ]

are people who write VB

I've had to interview a lot of them recently for various reasons I won't go in to. They all seem so disinterested by anything that happens at any reasonably low level.

sigh

  • One thing I've found working with VB folks is that (to various degrees) they put up with a lot of boring, repetitive work because their tools are not easily automatable. And most of them are Win32-only folks so they don't have the unix-power-tool mentality for automating bits and pieces then putting them all together to make a useful, repeatable process.

Of course, it's easy to achieve guru status among veebeebies with Perl and liberal sprinklings of File::Find, among other things :-)

All true. I was probably a little harsh. Not all of them have this mentality, but when I ask someone if HTTP is statelful or not I should get the right answer back from someone with 'web developer' on their CV. Frustration I guess.
