  • ...for multi-dimensional data structures you don't need Learning Perl, you need Learning Perl Objects, References & Modules [oreilly.com].

But you should probably read Learning Perl first :)
    • And that second one I can lend him :-) It's just that I don't have the first one and I think he (and everybody learning Perl, for that matter) should read it :-)
  • An alternative would be Beginning Perl [perl.org], which is available online for free.
    • :) many thanks for all(you speter, davorg and cog) in your atention "orienting" a very newbie in Perl to his first steps,, :D ,, i already buyed via amazon.co.uk the :

1 of: Essential System Administration Pocket Reference
      1 of: Learning Perl
1 of: Regular Expression Pocket Reference
1 of: Effective Perl Programming: 60 Methods and Rules for Scripting Better Programs (A-W Developers Press S.) (for cog)
2 of: Perl Pocket Reference (for pecus)

so i will have some nice books to read and do some nice works
  • The docs that come with perl are nice, too. Take a look at perlreftut [perldrunks.org] and perllol [perldrunks.org].

And the canonical reference, as opposed to tutorial, is perlref [perldrunks.org]

  • Poor boy. And I am the one who helps Cog most times.
    • :) everyone(or almost) needs someone watching for us, helping in the first steps,, and i can say i'm with luck,, :D cog is the one.

and just for register,, ambs you have a very nice homepage. I hope one day i can write my new page :) (maybe with Perl/Mason) :)
