Jaguar

[ #7370 ]
In case you missed it, I've been documenting my non-Perl OS X work on my O'Reilly Network weblog. A lot of ORA folks are blogging their Jaguar discoveries (how to make Help work, Terminal settings, VPNs, and more).

Still up to my nipples in editing. Four hours sleep last night. Looking forward to the week-long vacation (first I've taken since joining O'Reilly) coming the week of September 11. When it all settles down I really want to play with the mDNS library, even writing a Perl library. It'd be cool to be able to write self-discovering doodads in Perl.

My latest OSX Perl hack is a program to automatically work wth ISO9660 files. It's a simple program that waits until a CD is mounted, then does something, then calls hdiutils to eject. I fed my untagged mp3 CDs to this program last night, copying the files to the Firewire drive where I could tag 'em with Perl. I also wrote another version that simply saves the output of ls for each CD, so I can build an index of my CDs.
