Unicode
Of all the things I'm going to have to get up to speed on in order to write the new edition of the Cookbook, I think Unicode scares me the most. Mr Jark answered a fellow O'Reilly hacker's Unicode question with a regexp that made my eyes water and my spinctre pucker.
