mod_perl 2.0.0-RC5 released

[ #24189 ]
mod_perl 2.0.0-RC5, the next step toward an official "this is mod_perl 2.0" was announced and uploaded to CPAN today.

if you plan on migrating to this latest release, please take the time to read this document, which outlines very, very important changes between this version of mod_perl and all prior 2.0-branch releases

  http://perl.apache.org/docs/2.0/rename.html

this was a particularly stressful release for everyone, and I know a few people approached burnout-levels because of it. but hopefully mod_perl, and the rest of the perl community, is better off because of it.

at any rate, enjoy!

  • I am anticipating the mod_perl2 release. Thanks for your work on it.
  • Just this week I ported an app from MP1 to MP2. I'd been meaning to do it for a couple of years but never got round to it. This week I finally did it. It wasn't really a big job, but most of the work involved changing package names. Now they have all changed again :-(

Anyway, I know the decisions were not taken lightly. I'm not posting to complain, merely to share the irony of my timing. Thanks to all involved for your continuing labours on an excellent tool.
