Usually I attribute it not to the poor design of the machine (no machine can perfectly dispense beverages/foodstock without occasional overflow) but the inattention of the person before me. Had they been more attentive, they'd have gotten the free soda/m&ms/Milky Way.
So I see it not as a failing of the machine -- it was designed by a human -- but as a failing of the person just before me. I always feel better when it happens, because that's one more person who'll die in my place running through traf
