    On Debian, I want it to be under the package manglement system so the generic tarball would be very much a last resort. The Mac OS X binary package there is for 10.3 and claims to not work on 10.2.

      There is a package for ghc 6.4 in the `experimental' distro: http://packages.debian.org/experimental/devel/ghc6 [debian.org] . For mac os x, try the bootstrapping instructions here [haskell.org] to make a new build.

        The experimental packages require stuff from unstable. I specified stable. I'll take a look at the bootstrapping instructions.

  fink [sf.net] has a binary package of ghc 6.2. [sourceforge.net]

  If you're not using fink on OS X you should start.

  You really ought to fix that. 10.3 fixed soooooooooo many things and people are dropping 10.2 support left and right. You might be waiting for 10.4... but I wouldn't even.
  
  Just pirate somebody's 10.3 disks. I feel no moral qualms saying this as after having spent a couple thousand dollars on hardware which is really only useful with one operating system one should not have to pay for upgrades to that OS every year or two. Particularly given how fast support for older versions is dropped.

    I upgrade my OS when I need to, and *only* when I need to. This is the very first time I've come across anything that requires 10.3 so I take "people are dropping 10.2 support left and right" with a very large pinch of salt.
