New Browser

[ #9511 ]
I've netscape 7 running now (again). It's nice, but for some reason I can't seem to get the email working. That means I'm using Netscape 7 for web browsing and Netscape 4 for email.

Whatever. I'm a little happier, anyway.

  • I would recommend Mozilla over Netscape.

For one thing it's easier to stop pop-ups in Mozilla (a check box in Preferences vs. a manually added line in users.js, which has to be created by the user). For another, it has much more useful features and fun features. I'm running 1.3 alpha and it seems fine. Sometimes I get crazy and try the nightlies.

If you're just using Netscape 7 for a browser then get Phoenix [mozilla.org]. It's Mozilla just stripped down to the browser stuff.
    • The thing I like about phoenix is that they've tried hard to come up with a better interface. I love the way that they deal with popups:
      • If you get a popup, block it by default.
      • If it's the first time, point out the button on the UI where you can unblock individual sites if needed.
      • That's all folks!
