moving, proto stuff

I've decided to stick it out another month at my current apartment. That means I don't arrive in Denver until October 1st. I just can't take the chance of paying double rent. Kinda sucks, but gives me more time to procrastinate. I definitely want to get there before the snow hits.

In other news, while having delusions of porting my Net::Proto module to MS Windows, I think I found a bug in ActiveState's "getprotoby" functions. Seems they always return all of the data from a protoent struct rather than just the name or number.

  • Try it in Cygwin. I'm finding a lot more is working in Cygwin since 5.8.0 than ever before.

    I just love having all (most of) the Rich Functionality of Unix in the W2K environment that my employer requires that I use. This includes a Real Perl with a working CPAN and 'make test/install', etc.

    This is no knock on Activestate. They've done a great job. At this point, the only Perl I have running on Windows in production environments runs under Activestate, but Cygwin-perl (and Cygwin in general) is making
