Solaris 9
I have a copy of Solaris 9 sitting on my desk. It's tempting me...it calls me...it wants to torture me. "Solaris 8 has had its fun with obscure ld errors and a lousy compiler that won't build anything", it says, "and now its my turn".
Must...resist...upgrade...temptation....

Solaris 8 (Score:2)
never shipped with a compiler as you would remember the $1k dent in your wallet that buying Forte would inflict. Solaris 9 doesn't ship with a compiler either and will still generate odd ld errors to those unfamiliar with Solaris....9 does have /dev/random finally though which I gather would be of interest to you.
