The 'E' Programming Language

[ #5122 ]
Someone on the Ruby mailing list pointed out a new language that's out there called simply 'E'. I'm not sure what happened to 'D', but whatever. You can find info about it here

This language makes some interesting boasts:

  • E is the best language introduced to date for developing distributed systems. As one quick example of its power, the E Promise Architecture ensures that deadlock cannot occur
  • E is the only sensible language introduced to date for secure distributed systems
  • E is the first language ever introduced that is able to cope with multi-party partial-trust mobile code

I'm not sure if it's the same language or not, but there's already a language called E that was originally for the Amiga. I'm not sure if it ever broke out of Amiga land, but it was a pretty nice language. It was C-like, and had a lightning fast single pass compiler (which was very important when you were developing off floppy disks).

The library and source code are still somewhere on aminet I think.
