I decided to give Postgres a try at home. There's a very nice Postgres Windows Installer that I used. It comes with a handy little GUI frontend called pgAdmin III as well. You can automatically set it up as a service, too.
So, here I am, creating a convoluted database to store my record collection. If you're familiar with Oracle, it should feel familiar. Seems simple and straightforward so far, which is good.
While I don't see a mass migration away from MySQL on Windows, it is one of the things I always dropped in forums about MySQL vs PG ("Gimme a native installer!"). While the masses may not migrate, I will.
