I replaced my big, heavy 19" NEC tonight with a smaller, lighter 17" Samsung 712N. I've also reorganized my work area to take advantage of the extra space I've saved. Not having a high pitch whine eminating from the monitor is also nice.

Although there were better models, they were also more expensive. For $389, I think I've done well. One thing to note, though - you'll definitely have to adjust the frequency to 75 MHz (as mentioned in a review in the above link) to get text to look reasonable. I'll have to keep an eye out for some of the problems some folks have had with this model, but so far, so good.
