GIF Support in libgd and GD.pm

[ #20019 ]

With the end of the Unisys patent, GIF support has been put back into libgd (version 2.0.28) and also GD.pm (version 2.15).

Does anyone still use GIFs?

  • Does anyone still use GIFs?

    Yup. Supporting old browsers sucks.

  • Unfortunately, it is extremely hard (and not very profitable) to convince a customer to stop using IE.

And IE is rather limited in regards to supporting lossless images...

So, yes... gif is still used. (But, I create the "originals" in png format.)
