Hardware Confusion (Update)

So, as I reported yesterday the Wireless card did fit in my PC. The next problem is, of course, that Linux doesn't recognise it. A quick google reveals nothing that would indicate that anyone has got it working.

I've got so used to hardware having good support under Linux that it comes as quite a surprise when things don't Just Work. I know I should be checking compatibility before I go shopping, but sometimes (ok, usually) I just get lazy.

So the Belkin F5D7000 needs to go back to the shop. Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar product that will work under Linux?

Have you looked at Linux PCMCIA [sourceforge.net]? In particular their Supported Cards [sourceforge.net] page (wireless list about half way down) ? It's what I have been using to check out whether a card on eBay has been worth bidding for :)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not looking for a PCMCIA card. I want a PCI card for my desktop PC. Something like this [belkin.com].

  Would Linux Network Drivers [scyld.com] or Linux Compatible Ethernet Cards [oclug.org] be more appropriate? I was originally thinking from the point of view of driver support. But then again if you don't know the Linux driver for the PCI card thats not going help. Hopefully these two links will.
