I thought that the first comments (browsing at +2) made sense. I was happily surprised to see posters commenting that Perl's strength in text processing are not that useful when dealing with XML, that Perl holds its ground against Java but that Unicode support was lacking... and I always found Naggun's quote funny (I believe it appears radomly on use.perl.org).

Yes, some comments made sense, esp. at +2. However there's a lot of cruft in the whole thing, and of course it's building up every minute.
