To all of you considering moving away from use.perl.org...

[ #39006 ]

Yes, we have a nice service that we host at http://my.opera.com.

This is my "random" blog, for example: http://my.opera.com/cstrep/blog/.

There are many blogs better than mine, with lots of builtin custom designs. There's photo albums as well, and 1 Gb of file storage. See here, here, or here.

I hope you will like it. If it sucks for you, just drop me a note. We're continuously improving it.

  • ... that it's promoting Opera. :)

Not that I'm against Opera as such, it's just I'd rather be "for" Perl in my Perl blog

  • use.perl.org is nice because the signal/noise ratio (when it comes to our topic) is so very, very high. The "real" fix, is to get make the slashdot.org software (which use.perl.org uses, AFAIK) easier to use and more user friendly. :-(

I think use.perl.org has something increadibly valuable. Let's rather build on something good and established, eh?

    • Making use.perl.org more user friendly and nice is one of the possible ideas.

Another one is to "scatter" around Perl blogs a bit more. We have feed aggregators anyway. The more stuff we have out there, and in more different places, the better, in my opinion.

I certainly agree that use.perl has a great value. I was just suggesting to anyone intending to leave, and many already did, well, you can try My Opera. The worst that can happen is that you don't like it. But then I'd like to know why :)

      Good luck [sourceforge.net].

  • I'm not interested in using the Opera browser.

    • Yes! My Opera is designed to work flawlessly with IE6-7, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and of course Opera.
