YAPC::EU::2005 report #11

[ #25190 ]

Greetings :-)

The organizers of YAPC::EU::2005 would like you all to know how things are going.

This is report #11 and here are some details:

Airports In Galicia (Spain)

Thanks to Salvador Fandiño, there is now some information regarding airports in Galicia on the Wiki, at AirportsInGalicia.

For those of you who don't know, Galicia is in Spain, right on top of Portugal :-)

Thanks, Salvador :-)

Interacting with hotels

Some people have asked for help regarding the interaction with Portuguese hotels.

Just so you know, at least one hotel sends an automatic email to you upon room reservation... the problem is, the email is in Portuguese :-)

If you have any question in this regard, send it to the mailing list (this situation is likely to affect many of the atendees).

Map of the venue

The map of Braga can help you getting to the venue. That map is at (5 Mb PNG).

With that map you'll be able to find your way around the city, specifically some of the hotels and the University of Minho, where YAPC will be held.

Now, in order for you to find the exact location of the conference inside the University, Alberto has taken the time to create this: VenueLocation.

There you have a map of the University, with the "YAPC building" name in red, and also a map of the building itself.

We'll start in the Fotango room at 09:00 hours, Wednesday August 31, 2005.

Be there :-)

Deadline for the proceedings

If you're a speaker, remember the deadline for submitting proceedings is June 30th.

Portuguese made easier

No, we haven't changed the language O:-)

We added a page to the Wiki with translations for some common and not so common expressions.

Check it out, at CommonSentencesInPortuguese.

Behind the scenes action:

  • We had a heat wave here in Portugal, last week. Temperatures around 39C. Everything is back to normal (!) and we're now at 20 something C's.

And that's it for now.

As always, the organizers can be reached at

Kind regards,

Jose and Alberto
