A wooden stool, a glass of whisky and a cigarette in hand

To most that might not would mean a lot. To many my age (not quite 40) from the UK, that may just conjure up images of a rogue Irish comic, in his most familiar stance.

In my teens I can remember falling off the settee, with tears of laughter streaming down my face, listen to his witicisms and observations of life. One story I recall of him, is describing his son going to the fridge, leaning on the door while he figured out what he wanted. I realised he was describe me ... and every other teenager I knew. But he just captured the moment in such a unique way, you couldn't help but be taken in.

I discovered to today that he died last Thursday. A great shame.
