Yesterday evening I was so happy to return home from Italy. No, Italy is great, my fear was my palm tree I bought last month which was standing at the door of my house without water. I am so happy to say it survived well.

The weather in Italy was amazing — nothing to do with neither Amsterdam with its moderate climate nor Moscow's fires and smog my friends suffer from.

You can also base the estimation on a number of people took part in the Perl survey a few years ago; there were about 4000 responses.

Your numbers resemble the 80/20 rule of the mass of black matter in the Univers. There are 4000..5000 visible Perl people, and they should be 20% of the total :-)

“That is why I state that Perl 6 and communism are in close relation! The proof is easy: the latest Rakudo release was named after Moscow.pm in the 140th birthday of V. I. Lenin, 22th of April! And there's more: version number #28, multiplied by 5 (number of beams in a star) gives 140!”

I grabbed all the links I found on IronMan and PlanetPerl, leaving language detection to Google.

But you may use sayperl.org/!en to filter English.

Long version:

Iron Man and PlanetPerl.ru demonstrated that there are lots of Perl folks who write about Perl and you never heard of them.

Oh my. I was not saying anything bad about Barbie, cpantesters, Perl, its community and MSN. My message was just "I think, it is wrong way to block search engine to cope with frequent requests".

I can't be against any site inside Perl eco-system, of course, but anyway "time wget http://cpantesters.org/" prints 2 seconds response time which is not too cool.

I think that this is a signal to improve site's performance, not more that that.

That does not matter. If they with to collect data, they should be able to do that, I think. And are you sure that msnbot is not used for bing.com, which is default search engine in Windows 7's MSIE.

Cpantesters block MSN bot from accessing cpantesters site. It is said on blogs.perl.org that "Microsoft in their incompetent wisdom decided to unleash 20-30 bots every few seconds". Maybe it is, but closing access to a search engine is another side of incompetence, and I'd say hysterics and psychosis.

Last Friday there was the forth Russian Perl Workshop "Saint Perl 2009" which happened in Saint Petersburg, Northen capital of Russia.

We were happy to occupy the venue offered by Saint Petersburg University, although in the campus 50 minutes away from the city itself.

I am happy to say that full organization process was done by local organizer, the leader of SPb.pm, Alex Kotov, who started the event and brought it to complete success :-)
