Calory is not the metric unit. The metric unit for energy is Joule, so this really ought to be in kJ.
Even people who use the metric system from birth, aren't always consequent. Most will use kcal, I'm sure. Not that anybody has any clue on how much it is...
The kilogram-calorie is a metric unit - it's not a S.I. unit, but it is metric - it's the energy required to raise 1kg of water in temperature 1K at standard room pressure.
