The projects for the Google Summer of Code 2008 have been released. Eric has mentioned the Perl projects, and I wish them all success.

But I guess they won't be using perl to do that.

Here's an interesting one on porting functionality from a perl bot, Bot::BasicBot to a Python one, gozerbot. Perl to Python: Porting an IRC based timekeeping system [google.com]
He seems to be trying to justify working on the python app rather than perl one.
