Leon Brocard (aka acme) is an orange-loving Perl eurohacker with many varied contributions to the Perl community, including the GraphViz module on the CPAN. YAPC::Europe was all his fault. He is still looking for a Perl Monger group he can start which begins with the letter 'D'.

MogileFS

[ #33021 ]
To complete the list of Six Apart software (gotta install them all!) we run at work, I've been looking at MogileFS for storing images. It pretty much all just works, which is wonderful. It spreads the images over the slow cluster machines I've been testing it on and the limiting factor in my testing setup was the fact that we're testing on a 100Mbit network (now where did I put that gigabit switch...). Thanks Brad!

  • Looks very cool, particularly for running long-running things inside of qpsmtpd or AxKit2...
    • I have been meaning to play with it but I note it's unreliable (then again, it's probably good enough). Actually, I want to play with The Schwartz (a sort of a reliable Gearman) but it is terribly undocumented.
