Leon Brocard (aka acme) is an orange-loving Perl eurohacker with many varied contributions to the Perl community, including the GraphViz module on the CPAN. YAPC::Europe was all his fault. He is still looking for a Perl Monger group he can start which begins with the letter 'D'.

scribot is back!

[ #32753 ]

Scribot was a bot on the #london.pm IRC channel a while back. You could blog URLs and comments and there was a great little website behind it built by blech. Sadly, it started being used less and the code eventually broke and I never fixed it. But now scribot is back!

scribot: welcome back scribot!

With the magic of Bot::BasicBot and Net::Twitter you may now follow along (by SMS if you wish) at twitter.com/scribot. Join in on the microblogging on #london.pm!

  • Is the old scribot data still lurking in a MySQL table somewhere?
    • It's not on a machine which is turned on or connected to the net. What would you do with it?
      • Nothing, probably. I was more curious than anything.

If I *did* do anything, it would be to back-fill delicious with entries. Assuming that's even possible.
  • I can’t find any way to view any but the last post except by opening the feed in the browser to get the latest couple of twits, which is a joke.

(I fail to understand what people find useful about Twitter, but that’s just me.)

    • When they are having load problems (ie during US daytime) they only show the last entry.
