Leon Brocard (aka acme) is an orange-loving Perl eurohacker with many varied contributions to the Perl community, including the GraphViz module on the CPAN. YAPC::Europe was all his fault. He is still looking for a Perl Monger group he can start which begins with the letter 'D'.

backstage.bbc.co.uk meet-up

[ #27960 ]
Yesterday Leo and I enjoyed the backstage.bbc.co.uk meet-up. It was great to meet people interested in open data and mashups. With beer. Beforehand, we went to the BBC Broadcast Centre (shiny numedia offices!) to visit the excellent Ben Metcalfe and give a talk about mightyv to BBC New Media & Technology people (I was a little bit surprised as to how few had actually seen mightyv). Ben led us on a little tour of the offices and we found out how many little interesting projects they have there, from URI barcodes (search for Stapler) to storing a week's worth of TV (still no updates from promise.tv - I want this already!) and noticing Alice's pink DS. A very fun day indeed. Now open up more data and let's get hacking...
