I am livid. Would you pay $50 (USD) a year to be able to attend your local Perl Mongers meeting? Oh, and did I mention that the $50 goes to another organization? I can't wait to talk about this.

Maybe it's time to break away and form your own free republic of local perl. Dues? For a .pm group. They must be mad!

  The group has been registered. Monger Central has been notified that the group may not be a replacement, but a separate entity, and the reasons behind that. (In case they argue that there is another group in the area.) There's probably one or two more exchanges that need to be made, and then I'll give it up.

    Um, this sounds unlike anything to do with anything related to Perl Mongers since the beginning of time (OK, since 1997; effectively the same thing).
    Lots of groups have been "started" or "registered" over the years, and fail to have a first meeting or otherwise fail to be active. I don't see why this should be causing a problem.
    Besides, Perl Mongers is nothing more than an alias for a local group of techies that gather together for a few pints of beer, occasionally stay for dinner, and periodically tal
