Progresses

Dear Log,

"The discipline of economics progresses one funeral at a time"
-- an aphorism that I heard Francis Fukuyama quote. The funerals in question are those of economists. He added that it's true in other disciplines, too.

I can think of a few linguists I know who could be welcome sources of progress...
