Interesting flashback to my earlier ramblings about consistency: the Oscars (et al) have no separate best director/directress categories, so why [the Guardian article asks] do they have separate best actor and actress categories?

  • Do they even HAVE female directors? And if so, WHY?
    • It was a hyoomon female who wrote and directed Clockwatchers [imdb.com], one of the best films of the past ten years. The one movie I've ever seen that took the advice "don't tell them, show them" seriously.
